Smithville

 

Smithville are a 5-piece band based in Brighton, UK playing funky organ-driven instrumental soul-jazz, hard bop and funk. We also occassionally go out as a 6 piece with a guest vocalist.

 

Our name is a tribute to the great "Smith" jazz organists - Dr Lonnie, Jimmy, Johnnie "Hammond" and to the Blue Note album "Smithville" by the great, underrated hard bop trumpet player Louis Smith.

Smithville was co-founded by our good friend and great jazz guitarist, the late John Harris and we perform in tribute to him.
